It used to be a daily self care routine to create something. I find it so healing to create something, and when I go too long without producing something I get so restless that I start wearing crazy makeup.

As I’ve grown, I’ve had to really carve out time to paint and be creative. This makes me appreciate the time I can spend with myself creating something. And I deeply appreciate the privilege that I have to be able to share my creations with people who might appreciate it.

Another thing I love about art is its accessibility. I believe that art should be easily accessible.

I saw an artist on TikTok who participated in the trend where they compare their painting pallet to the painting they just completed, and this video made my jaw drop. It was stunning. This artist managed to paint what sunlight looks like as it streams through the trees. It took my breath away because I have grown up surrounded by trees, and spent a lot of time outside underneath them. The painting looked identical to what I have grown up with, it could have come straight from my memory.

I instantly went to find their link to buy a print of it and there was none, the artist didn’t have one. I know websites can be expensive and that’s why I’d like to share mine.
